Dynalene and Lehigh University Partner on Advanced Fluid Technology through PITA

Dynalene Inc. is proud to announce an ongoing research and development partnership with Lehigh University, facilitated by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Technology Alliance (PITA). This strategic collaboration is focused on driving innovation in advanced fluid technologies, specifically targeting both low-temperature cryogenic systems and high-temperature solar applications.

PITA is a specialized program spearheaded by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). It bridges the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Center for Advanced Technology for Large Structural Systems (ATLSS) at Lehigh University, and the Institute for Complex Engineered Systems (ICES) at Carnegie Mellon University. By connecting Pennsylvania companies with leading university faculty and talented students, PITA R&D projects have successfully aided in the creation and implementation of numerous cutting-edge technologies across the state.

Advancing Cryogenic Separation

Through this alliance, Dynalene currently has two major ongoing PITA projects with Lehigh University. In the first initiative, Dynalene is working closely with Lehigh’s Chemical Engineering Department to pioneer improvements in the cryogenic separation of water from heat transfer fluids. This research is vital for maintaining fluid purity and system efficiency in ultra-low temperature environments, offering significant performance boosts for industrial cooling applications

Pioneering Solar Thermal Solutions

Simultaneously, Dynalene has launched a joint research effort with Lehigh’s Center of Advanced Materials and Technology. This second project focuses on rigorous high-temperature corrosion studies of molten salt-based heat transfer fluids. Because these specialized molten salts operate at extreme temperatures, understanding their corrosive behavior is a critical step in developing next-generation Concentrating Solar Plant (CSP) applications. Ultimately, this research will help engineer more resilient solar thermal facilities, paving the way for more efficient and sustainable renewable energy solutions.
